President Eisenhower, "Plans are nothing; planning is everything."
Project Management
Upwards of 70% of all initiatives fail.

More than 65% of all initiatives, projects or programmes exceed their budget, or delivery dates or both; or cancel the project because of upwardly spiralling costs as did Leicestershire University Hospitals when their new patient care computerised system costs rose more than 50% above budget.

Most organisations do not have experienced project managers to support their next initiative or project or change programme.

Management means having control, being able to be aware of a potential issue or risk before you hit it head on, being cognisant of resource requirements and having a strategy, a high level map and a plan which you will use to measure the progress of the initiative, project or programme against and hold the assigned people accountable for their progress and related activities. Tolerances of variation are reported by exception and mitigation plans developed. Like the Scouts, the motto is ‘be prepared’! HPL is able to facilitate or support the workshops that will elicit the process, benefit, metrics, risk and planning information.
There are certain standards and expectations for project and programme management which, when applied in an agile and pragmatic way, will provide the project or programme infrastructure, benefits management, cost and budget information, metrics, risks and progress and in an accurate, timely and illustrative way to stakeholders , develop ‘dashboards’ to communicate progress.

HPL is able to provide such services to your organisation; to share our knowledge with nominated individuals within your organisation and to provide support (on line or telephone) as required.
